VAT is a significant component of the working capital of your clients, yet it often receives relatively little attention. We see that there is much to be gained by businesses when they involve our specialists. Many businesses are unaware of the VAT risks they are running. These risks, as well as the potential opportunities, can both have substantial consequences.
We advise and support with projects wherein a business may have received or paid too much VAT. Think, for example, of a case in which we help a company to achieve an arguable tax position to which an inspector agrees to grant a tax reduction, or VAT exempt status.
We can help you in a one-off client case, but also for general information. In this way, our colleague Ronald van den Hurk helped the ‘accounting tool’ Jortt with VAT questions. “Can you deduct VAT from a personal vehicle as a business expense?” Ronald explains in an enlightening blog: “Yes, the VAT from the purchase of a personal vehicle is deductible, when the following conditions are met:
You have a sole proprietorship (does not apply to a vof, bv or others)
you are the entrepreneur for the VAT, i.e. not:
Exempt from VAT
Making use of KOR (small business scheme)
You use the car at least partly for business purposes
You can involve us backup for complicated (inter)national cases in which you are always the first point of contact for your customers, but also for advice in worldwide e-commerce, fiscal representation, or declarations abroad. VAT INSTITUTE is here for you.
